Did you know 88% of online customers won’t return to a website after a bad experience?
Now, try viewing your business website on your phone really quick. Does it look as good as it does on desktop? It better!
Here’s why your website needs mobile-first design.
Google favors mobile-first sites.
Google’s pushed web developers to create mobile-friendly sites for years now. They’re so dedicated to mobile that they just announced they’re enabling mobile-first indexing by default.
By now, most web developers are comfortable working on mobile-first sites. In return, you’ll get better rankings and more organic traffic.
Mobile-first simplifies your site.
While the initial switch to mobile-first design takes work, it simplifies your site in the long run.
You’ll have:
One site for all devices
Cleaner design
And, it lets you focus on content.
You’ll lose business without it.
Even if you don’t think a mobile-first website is important, your customers do.
57% of internet users won’t recommend a business with a poorly designed mobile site.
Without mobile-first design, you could lose out on referrals and return visits from customers.

Should you design for mobile or desktop first?
Timothy Samara answers this and more questions on my new podcast.
Should you design for mobile or desktop first? –
“I would always advocate for really thinking about the smartphone as a sort of the basis for how you might think about column, because this is gonna be your worst case scenario. This is the narrowest and the smallest format area that text is going to appear in. There are much more, I would say, stringent requirements for how large the point size has to be or the pixel size of the text has to be, and how much space you need between. That’s going to really drive how that text fits, within this very narrow space. Which in essence, if the text is legible, and has a readable quality, it’s likely to fill most of that space, and that’s not a bad place to start for determining the column. Especially the format then expands, into say desktop browser, where there’s gonna be a lot more leeway. Then you can apply this thinking to print design too, is to always find, the most difficult or challenging situation or aspect of the material that you’re working with and also the format, so that you solve that problem right off the bat.”
